One of the most precious architecture of Iran and also called second Masouleh of Iran.
The buildings are into the mountain and interconnected. Courtyards and roofs both serve as pedestrian areas similar to streets. The building and structure dates back to thousands of years ago before Islam. Kang is approximately 20 kilometers from Mashhad. It’s 1700 meter above sea level and about 184 hectares.Buildings are mostly two stories (1st floor and ‘ground’ floor) made of adobe, rods and bole. A small living room, guest room, hall, WC and balcony are usually in the 1st floor. A cold closet, barn and stable are on the floor below, which are connected to the upper floor by several narrow steps inside the building.
Kang Village is about an hour drive from Mashhad, an ancient Silk Road stop. Mashhad is Iran’s second largest city, and its spiritual capital. Kang Village is also near Neishabur, known for its turquoise mines, which are the best in the world.
The origin of the name of the village is not specified. May it’s name came after a bundle of firewood or after a species of large bird common in the area.
What’s clear is that Kang survived more or less 3,000 years. Including the onslaught of natural disasters such as earthquakes, extremely cold winters, etc.
The architecture of Kang Village is something amazing among the Iranian architectures and monuments and for sure in the world even.
Consequently we highly recommend you to explore it with Tlocals to find out how much Architecture of Iran can be wonderful.
