Gahar Lake is one of the most beautiful mountainous lakes of Iran which is located in Lorestan Province and Doroud city. The untouched beauty of Gahar makes it a good destination for people who are interested in pure nature. This lake is formed of the snow on Oshtorankuh Climax melting and gathered behind the dam that formed by flowing on the mountain.in some parts the water flows to a lower lake. The length of this lake is one and half kilometers and its width is 600 meters. The depth of this lake is 28 meters and its area is about 100 hectares. For reaching to this magnificent and pristine lake from Doroud you can go with car to foot of mountain after that you must 3 or 4 hours hike up and down the hill road. *Lake Urmia* The “Lake Urmia”, also known as “Chi Chest”, “Kaboodan” and “Rezaieh” in the past, is the second after the Caspian Sea as the largest saltwater lake in the Middle East. After Anzali Lagoon, The National Park of Lake Urmia is one of the most interesting natural habitats in Iran. The name Urmia is chosen after the name of the city in Azerbaijan. The amount of salt in this lake is double of the amount in oceans and because of this there are no fish there and it will never freeze. This lake has 102 islands which some of them like Kazem Dashi turned to a mountain. This lake is fed by different rivers which some of them are Zarrineh-rud, Simineh-rud, Aji Chay, Gadar, Shahar Chay, Nazlou, and Zola rivers. As you can see, there are lots of lakes in Iran which are worthy of visiting. Unfortunately nowadays these lakes are in danger of drought more than before. Human activities in these areas are the most probable reason. As a tourist or traveler, make sure that you left nothing in nature in these lands as garbage. It is also mentionable that some kinds of fish and creatures are going to extinct because of the pollution so avoid making water dirty and taking their lives. Uncontrolled fishing is another reason of their extinction, as we mentioned Caspian Sea which is losing the great source of Caviar. Another thing you need to know is that most of the time swimming in these areas is dangerous and each year there are some people who are dying as a result of not paying attention to the “Do not swim” sign. At last remember that these lakes and all other natural attractions are precious areas which remained from past and we should endeavor to keep them alive for the next generations.
