“Animal species in Iran” (Part 2)

*Eurasian eagle-owl*
They are the largest kinds of owls in Iran and one of the most beautiful kinds all over the world. Comparing to other kinds of owls this bird is in less danger of extinction and that few amount of death among them is because of pesticides, electric cables and barbed wires. In proper conditions these eagle-owls lives 60 years but the average age is 20 among them. The length of their wings is about 2 meters when they are flying. *Persian leopard*
Iran is the main habitat of this glorious animal. They normally live in jungles or areas far from cities. This species is the largest among leopards which there are a few numbers of them in Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and turkey. The reason of their extinction is because of human hunting, Drought and the reduction of herbal coverage. This leopard is lives in Gilan and Mazadnaran jungles and also in protected areas of Bafgh, Touran Kavir, Sarigol and Naybandan. [image: image.png] [image: image.png]

*Hawksbill sea turtle * In Qeshm Island and in Persian Gulf there is an enchanting and exclusive kind of turtles, the Hawksbill sea turtle. In japan and china these animal are being hunted because of their delicious meat but in Qeshm and Kish they are kept in protected areas. One of the main reasons of their extinctions is that their hatchlings are being hunted by octopus and crabs. This species antiquity is about 100 million years and their normal age of living is between 30 and 50. [image: image.png] [image: image.png] [image: image.png]
*Blanford’s fox* This kind of fox is one of the specific kinds in Iran which have smaller size than a normal fox. Because of their enchanting fur and skin they are being hunted more than other kinds. They eat fruits and insects and they live for 4 or 5 years. They normally live in mountainous areas and hills near plains, normally in east of Khorasan, Kerman, Fars and Naybandan in Tabas. *Golden eagle* The glory and greatness of eagles can be seen in Golden eagle which lives in Asia and Europe. The picture of this bird is a symbol of power in Ancient Iran. The golden eagle is being hunted all the time because of their enchanting appearance. In Iran they are count as protected species in Alborz and Zagros mountains. This bird eats 300 grams of meat every day and they are mostly mammals. [image: image.png] [image: image.png]
The verity of animals is so vast in Iran that is somehow unmentionable. Overall, the important thing to know is that, this animals are our heritage and we should try to keep them safe.
